Bridges Drug Store
In 1976, Wilb Walker's Grocery announced plans to expand to the west. This expansion would start with the demolition of the three buildings on the west end of the 2000 block of Western. Bridges Drug Store was on the end.
Automatic Heating and Plumbing occupied the Steidl Brothers building at 2020 Western. The A & P Store was at 2018 Western. Also demolished was the Township Offices at 120 N. 21st and Automatic Heating warehouse at 2019 Prairie.
Around the turn of the century, the block was filled as follows: 2016 Western - Western Avenue Bakery 2018 Western - Cowden and Warren 2020 Western - Steidl Brothers 2022 Western - Beals and Son.
