Mattoon Dress Factory

The Mattoon Dress Factory was located at 1614 Charleston.  This was just west of the library.

Bed sacks were made there for the soldiers during World War I.  They moved from here to building behind the Gambles Store (also part of our graveyard).

The building was torn down in 1994 as part of the library expansion.  Today, the site is a parking lot.

The Dress Factory can be seen in this 1928 photo of the groundbreaking of the U.S. Grant Hotel
