Eli Storm Blacksmith
Built in 1883 by Fulcher and Spangle, at the start of the 20th Century, Phillip Wolliung operated a blacksmith shop at 122 North 15th Street. The middle of the century, Spillman Blacksmiths were here. And before the post office purchased the property in 1979, Eli Storm had his blacksmith shop between Broadway and the New York Central tracks along 15th Street.
Two other buildings were razed as part of the post office project. The Goldsmith Brother's building at 126 North 15th Street was torn down. They were wholesale fruit dealers. And the CIPS power plant on the west side of 14th Street was razed as well. The power plant was used to power the trolley lines in the first part of the 20th century.
