Gannaway BuildingTucked in between the Methodist Church and the U.S. Grant Hotel, the Gannaway Building housed the Checkley Agency before its demise in 1967. The building was built in 1896 by R.J. Gannaway, for his grocery store. The Association of Commerce offices had also been located there.
In September of 1967, the U.S. Grant razed the building for additional parking space. In the early 1980’s, the Methodist church built an addition over the land where the Gannaway Building once stood.
An addition to the Methodist Church is at the site of the Gannaway Building |
