Central School – Old Gym

The old gym at Central School was the only remaining part of the original high school.  It was built in 1902.  It housed the music and industrial arts programs for Central Junior High School before the junior high schools merged in 1977.  The building lasted three years after the schools closing, being torn down in 1980.  It was replaced with a parking lot (surprise).  They spared the “fish mouth” water fountain that sat in the lobby of the gym and moved it to the Central School gym.  Now that Central has been razed, the fish fountain has been moved to the new high school
