Lowell School

In 1976, Community Unit School District Number 2, closed Lowell School due to low attendance.  This displaced hundreds of students for the 1977-78 school year.

A study was done to possibly convert the school into a Civic Center by using funding from the Surplus School Conservation Act.  This apparently failed.  The building was torn down.

The high school building trades class divided the block in to lots and built houses on the ground the school once stood.  Today, one cannot tell there was ever a school there.
